Dog Behaviour Counselling

Why does my dog DO that?!

Dogs have a come a long way in the last 16,000 years or so, and we can safely say that they are not wolves any more.

Even in the last 30 years, the relationships we have with our dogs have been changing from ‘just the dog’ to a fully integrated family member. However, dogs have different needs, emotions and communication systems than humans, and lack of understanding of these can sometimes cause conflict between us.

What is ‘natural’ behaviour for a dog, such as aggression, chasing, digging, barking etc. is often incompatible with our own lives, and of those around us. There is also far more media attention about dogs now, and we tend to have the very worst behaviour sensationalised beyond sensibility.

As a result we put more pressure on our dogs (and ourselves!) to be seen to be behaving in a socially acceptable manner.

The Drove Behaviour Services Team  can help you understand why your dog is behaving in a way that you might find unappealing, and give you kind , respectful & effective strategies to help get you both back on track again without resorting to force or intimidation.
